Write an answer to one of the questions 2 – 4 in this part. Write your answer in 280 – 320 words.

The principal of your college has announced that a new language will be added to the curriculum. The language will be either Latin or Spanish. Write to the principal, giving your opinion on the decision to require all students to learn another language, say which language should be chosen and discuss the benefits young people get from learning a foreign language. Write your letter. You do not need to write any postal addresses.

You work for your local council. There is a plan to build a large shopping centre near your home. Your manager has asked you to write a report on shopping and young people in your area. Say which shops are popular with young people, discuss whether young people would like the new shopping centre, and say whether or not you think it should be built. Write your report.

A popular magazine has asked readers to send in articles with the title ‘Was I Really Like That?’ In your article you should describe the ways in which you have changed over the last five years. Explain whether you think these changes are for the better and say whether you think you have changed more or less over this time period than the other people of your age that you know. Write your article.
